Club

Buxton Club has been running for over 25 years and is a healthy, talented club which maintains a good membership.

Do note that we're based in Buxton in Norfolk NOT Buxton in Derbyshire.

Meeting Place

The club meets in Buxton Village Hall on the first and third Monday of each month (with the exception of August when no meetings are held and the odd exception around bank holidays so always check the programme).

Meetings start at 7:30pm.

Programme

We have a mixed programme of speakers, training, competitions and on location shoots.

Membership

Membership details will be held on computer unless a member objects by indicating their objection on the application form. In this case, the membership details will be held in a paper record. This information is confidential and shall not be disclosed to any source outside Buxton Photographic Club.

Membership is £30 per annum for a single member, £35 per annum for a couple and £15 for a student in full time education.

Photographic Outings

We aim to have at least three location shoots every year. These are normally in the summer to get the greatest daylight hours but may also be night shoots in the winter. The start time of these outings may be earlier than the usual start time so check the programme and keep an eye on your emails.

Club Rules

The club has a constitution and a set of rules for competitions. Please see the members' area for the competition rules.

Suggestions and Feedback

The committee is always keen to get feedback from members about what works, what doesn't and what else you'd like to see in the programme. So please give us any feedback that you have.

Social Media

We have a Facebook page which is a members only page so if you're a member and would like to join it then please ask.

Competitions

We have 5 PoTY competitions per year which consist of 2 prints and 1 DPI image. We keep a strong print presence in our competitions because there is a skill and something far more gratifying about actually producing and handling a real print. It also allows us to compete in inter-club competitions, many of which are at least half printed images. One of the prints is on a theme to help encourage members to move out of their comfort zone. The themes are voted for by members each year. We also have a DPI only competition at the beginning of each year, consisting of 3 open DPI images. This is to encourage all members of the club to participate without the cost and skill of having to print their images.

Annual General Meeting

Our AGM is held in December at which time we award the various Photography of the Year cups.
